THE NEW AMERICAN COOKBOOK

"I am building houses from your cakes,
I am dancing with sugar like you did,
I am baking your memories into pie so I will know they’re in me."

The New American Cookbook was written as part of Klecksography 2020, curated by Rorschach Theatre in Washington, DC. Inspired by Herman Rorschach’s ink blot test, over 50 artists were brought together to create ten minute plays, monologues, and short films, all inspired by the same works of art. The visual inspiration for Klecksography 2020 was the 51st Statehood murals around the DC area.

The New American Cookbook, a ten-minute play, was written in 24 hours and developed and rehearsed over the course of a week. It was inspired by a mural by Jay Hudson.
